Revision Tracking & Control - The Index Module

The WinTool Index Module allows users to track and control changes of tool component data, tool assembly data, and tool list data. The "tool data status control" ensures that only current and accurate data is being released for manufacturing.

The Index Module is especially suited for production companies that require high standards in manufacturing process quality and are standardizing their tooling to reject dispensable tools, simplify tool setup, and optimize tool technology systematically. The WinTool Index Modules stores tool data in multiple versions and preserves original documentation to satisfy the manufacturing process requirements according to ISO and FDA industry standards.

Turning Tool Data Tracking On/Off

The status control can be turned on/off individually for tool components, assemblies, and/or lists by flagging the dedicated checkboxes.

If the status control is initially activated all tool records will have the status "edit" and receive the index "1." Each status change will make the index to count up by one.

Revision Tracking Mode (ISO/FDA)

The WinTool Index Module can be set to either ISO or FDA Revision Tracking Mode. The FDA Mode requires that each WinTool tool data status change has to be signed with an electronic signature. The user will be requested to enter "Windows login user name" and "password". The user information will be stored with the status change information of the tool data.

The ISO Mode does not require an electronic signature. The checkbox none deactivates the Index Module altogether.

Revision Tracking Method

The Index Module has two settings for the status change process: In Production Method you will be asked to enter the reason for the status change in a comment data entry field. In Evaluation Method the comment field is not in use and the default comment "Evaluation method" is entered in the status change journal of the tool data record.
